I've been asking a bunch of questions like this recently, just...here'south one more than.

We're trying to annals for a swing for our kickoff baby, b'shaah tova. Information technology seems that air current-upward swings are the smartest becuase they can be used on Shabbos too - but it seems like they're not around anymore:

Quote:
Now, more than than 50 years later, all of the major manufacturers, including Graco and Fisher-Price, have discontinued their current of air-upward swings.

But it seems like Graco is even so selling some online. Has anyone bought a new wind-up swing recently and have any comments about it? Or where they got it from (peculiarly if it was online)?

Or anyone who thinks that a battery-operated ane is fine? I could only see kicking myself later for non getting a wind-up one...fifty-fifty though the battery-operated ones last for much longer...

I bought a wind-upward swing five years ago. Its a graco swing. My current infant (#4) is happily enjoying information technology. The one thing I like about information technology was that if left on it won't swing forever.

I think cheap baby outlet stores (like Bergament in BoroPark) would carry them.

I've seen some on ebay over the past few years for $25 + $25 shipping around...let me check.
Don't see whatsoever right now Sad

I bought one second hand on luach.com when the opportunity arose, even though I had no 1 to use information technology for, since I had e'er regretted not ownership 1 when I had the chance (since my baby at the time was half dozen months quondam). I never used a swing, but these are and then hard to find, I simply decided to get one. It's currently at my in-laws to be used by whoever needs it. And IY"H when I will have a need for it, I'll simply bring information technology to my apartment I estimate. Worth the twenty bucks.

I've managed without a swing at all for 2 kids, never listen the wind up cistron, so if you can't find, it'southward really non the cease of the world. Alternatively, some get plug in swings, and get out it on the whole Shabbos. Merely if y'all do see one available, it might be worth it to just get information technology.

I never understood plug-in swings. Not only is the plug-in-socket dangerous, merely the wire is so easy to trip over or get strangled in! Not a proficient idea at all.

Graco was the concluding hold-out to make air current up swings and they stopped about 2 years agone.

Proficient luck finding information technology.

You'd think there's be an Israeli visitor that made 1... just no.

We didn't quiestion information technology. I would recall that it's like wind up watches. You lot can wind them up on Shabbos given that they are nevertheless going. Once they stopped, you tin't rewind them.

My husband told me the aforementioned as egam says. We didn't air current it on shabbos, merely wound it to capacity before shabbos and so gave it a push button whenever needed (didn't last as much as we needed, but all the same.)

I know that people do hold that it'south OK... I hope they asked and didn't just assume.

Same with the pull-dorsum toy cars (where you lot roll it back a little and the spring winds- let it go and it zooms) and the jitter-critters where you pull the string and the little animal vibrates.

We however similar our air current-up because information technology's economic, uncomplicated, and doesn't have music buttons for the older kids to corruption.
What I don't like about information technology though is that the machinery bar is right over the seat and it's hard to maneuver the baby in. Some swings come up with a tray that opens and closes, but this i stays put. And so I kinda have to slide the baby in from the back.
IY"H later this baby we'll give the swing away to save space.

I take a plug-in swing. It'southward great because it doesn't eat up batteries like so many other things do. I was debating what to practise near Shabbos, simply I've heard people either go out it on the whole time or put it on a timer. I thought about looking into a wind-up swing, but I decided that I'd rather be inconvenienced 1 twenty-four hour period rather than six days. You volition see, when you need the swing because the baby is kvetchy and you need to get things done (or slumber), then you lot won't desire to accept to stop what y'all're doing (or wake up) every xv minutes.

Simply similar Hashem Yaazor.... we bought a air current up Graco swing off of eBay (payed $25 plus shipping) even though at that time we didn't need it. We knew equally time went on they'd be harder to come up by, and so bought and stored in basement. For baby #two we used, and it was great. Now it's back in the basement Smile

Go along checking both eBay and Craigslist.org
